1I. Before you read
This is a reading of a pattern, not a ruling on a life. Nothing here is fixed, and nothing here is a forecast of events. What a chart shows is the shape of the terrain — where it slopes, where it floods, where the ground is thin. Where you walk is still yours. Read it once for the shape, then again when a particular year comes up.
2II. The chart, and what it is made of
Year Geng-Wu · Month Ji-Mao · Day Ji-Mao · Hour Ding-Mao — four pairs, one for each position in a life.
Read left to right, those four pairs of characters are four different things: what you inherited, what you were born into, who you actually are, and what you are reaching for. The third one is the one that speaks as you — Ji, Earth. You were born in spring, which is Wood season — the month is the loudest character in any chart, and it decides what the rest of the chart has to work around. The chart runs light. Your own element is outnumbered by everything it has to carry. That is not weakness: it is a design that runs on support. Alone you can do a great deal; with the right two people you can do twice as much at half the wear.
3III. The five elements, counted
Counted by the eight visible characters, the chart reads: Wood 3, Fire 2, Earth 2, Metal 1, Water 0. Water appears not at all among them — which is not a deficiency, just a position: that element has to come from outside, from people, places and timing.
4IV. The story it tells first
Your Day Master is Earth — ground that holds whatever is put on it. It was born into spring, and that season cuts straight through Earth — the ground keeps being broken up just as it settles. What the chart is short of — and quietly asking for — is Fire. Not more of what it already is: the thing that feeds it. The element that works against it is Metal. Not an enemy — a headwind. You do not fight a headwind; you trim for it.
5V. What the chart is short of
The chart asks for Fire — the Mentor and the Hermit. Prometheus's gift — the thing that separates a campfire from a hearth. When Fire is around — in a person, a place, a kind of work — you stop straining and start growing. Earth comes with it; it is the company this chart keeps well. Metal and Water are the drag. Not disaster: the places where trying harder makes it worse.
Five readings are run on every chart before one is adopted, because they disagree more often than clients expect.
· Balance — is there enough of you to carry what the chart asks, or more of you than the situation needs?
· Climate — was the chart born too cold to get moving, or too dry to hold anything?
· Passage — where two elements are deadlocked, what lets them meet in the middle?
· The flaw and the fix — what is actually wrong here, and what corrects it?
· Structure — what the birth month sets as the main road, before anything else is considered.
The reading above is the one this chart settled on. If you would rather have the conclusion than the working, skip to the next section.
6VI. How you operate
Earth people are steady, accommodating, slow to refuse. That is the temper you were issued. What you were not issued, and spend a life acquiring, is Fire — the person who vouches for you, and the quiet room where you work things out. Charts read as a person when you put the two together: Earth temperament, Fire method. The method is not native to you, which is exactly why it works — you do it deliberately, and deliberate is more reliable than natural.
7VII. Work and money
Work that moves suits you better than work that sits: power and utilities, hospitality, media, anything performed. You route things rather than hoard them — you get more done by connecting than by owning. You are better paid for judgment than for hours. The chart has the Mentor and the Hermit in the useful position, which means the money follows the thing you are trusted with, not the thing you are busy with. Metal is where work turns into obligation without turning into money — rules, audits, and precision for its own sake. Be the person who decides, not the person who polishes.
8VIII. The marriage house
In this system the marriage house is read two ways: by the star that represents a partner, and by the palace — the lower character of your day pillar, the Rabbit. For a woman the partner-star is authority — the Magistrate and the Adversary. Again not a comment on temperament: it is the element that gives shape and direction, and the marriage house is where direction becomes a shared life. In your chart that star is Wood, which describes the kind of person you keep choosing: upright and a little stubborn, always growing toward something. The partner-star is repeated — three appearances. Charts like this have options, and options are the difficulty: the risk is never scarcity, it is choosing late and choosing by comparison. The practical version: what this chart needs from a partner is not excitement, it is steadiness of the Wood kind — someone who keeps the same shape on a bad Tuesday as on a good Saturday. That is the quality to screen for, and the quality to be.
The years this house is most likely to settle: 2030, 2035, 2042, 2044. In each of them the partner-star and the palace are moved at the same time — you do not have to hunt for it; it arrives and you take one step forward.
The nearest of them is a closing year: the palace meets its pair, which is the cleanest form this house has. People agree in those years and the agreement holds.
9IX. The people you came from
This system reads family through the same eight characters, which is why it says odd-sounding things like "your mother is Water". The roles are fixed: the element that feeds you represents parents and mentors; the element at your own height represents siblings and peers; for a man the element that constrains you represents children, for a woman the element you produce does. Counting how often each appears tells you how near or far that relationship runs.
Parents and mentors (two appearances). Present but not overpowering: support exists, arrives late rather than early, and has to be asked for.
Siblings and peers (three appearances). Crowded. Peers and rivals are a constant presence, and the chart does better when the terms are written down than when they are assumed.
Children (one appearance). Normal weight. The relationship is one you build by showing up rather than one that runs on its own.
None of this is a verdict on any actual person. It is where the chart puts its weight, and weight is something you can shift by how you behave.
10X. The body
When Metal runs strong, your body tightens before it complains. In Chinese medicine that maps to the lungs and large intestine — the organs this element governs. Metal charts hold their breath when they concentrate. Air, walking, and letting one thing go unfinished are the maintenance. The counterweight is Fire: heart and small intestine. Fire burns cleanest on a schedule. Late nights and constant stimulation cost this chart more than it costs other people. Two things worth naming because they cost this chart more than they cost most: carrying other people's urgency as if it were your own, and the late nights that follow. This is a reading of tendencies, not medicine. If something is actually wrong, see someone who can examine you.
11XI. The decades, one at a time
Each decade is a chapter with a character above and a branch below. The upper character is how the decade presents itself; the branch is what it is actually standing on. Read the pair, never one half alone.
Wu-Yin · ages 4–13 (1993–2002)
The Rival above, the Magistrate below — the upper half leans your way, the lower half is neutral. A workable run with one good hand.
This is a run where nerve gets you what planning alone cannot. Use it once, deliberately.
What to do with it: spend the credit you have accumulated: ask, apply, propose, sign. Runs like this do not repeat on a schedule.
Ding-Chou · ages 14–23 (2003–2012)
The Hermit above, the Equal below — both ends lean your way. The run to start things in.
Solitude is productive now. Work alone and the work comes out clean.
What to do with it: spend the credit you have accumulated: ask, apply, propose, sign. Runs like this do not repeat on a schedule.
Bing-Zi · ages 24–33 (2013–2022)
The Mentor above, the Venture below — the upper half helps and the lower half charges for it. A mixed run — half of it opens doors, half asks for patience.
Someone senior vouches for you. Credentials, study, and reputation all move at once.
What to guard against in the same run: fast money has a fast tail. Take the profit, not the position.
What to do with it: keep both hands on one project. Mixed runs reward finishing, not launching.
Yi-Hai · ages 34–43 (2023–2032) ◀ you are here
The Adversary above, the Steward below — the lower half leans against you, the upper half is neutral. A run that asks for care rather than adventure.
Money is earned and then leaks. Track it for three months, no exceptions.
What to do with it: repair, consolidate, keep the plan small. Effort is not the missing ingredient this run.
Jia-Xu · ages 44–53 (2033–2042)
The Magistrate above, the Rival below — the lower half holds you up, the upper half is neutral. A workable run with one good hand.
The bold move pays. Doors open because someone you know opens them.
What to do with it: put the bet down while the table is friendly, and size it properly. This is a starting run, not a maintaining one.
Gui-You · ages 54–63 (2043–2052)
The Venture above, the Epicurean below — both ends lean against you. The run to hold position and repair in.
Generosity is going to the wrong people. Lend nothing you need back.
What to do with it: repair, consolidate, keep the plan small. Effort is not the missing ingredient this run.
Ren-Shen · ages 64–73 (2053–2062)
The Steward above, the Iconoclast below — both ends lean against you. The run to hold position and repair in.
Do not mistake more effort for more pay. Price the work properly.
What to do with it: repair, consolidate, keep the plan small. Effort is not the missing ingredient this run.
Xin-Wei · ages 74–83 (2063–2072)
The Epicurean above, the Equal below — the upper half charges and the lower half holds you up. A mixed run — half of it opens doors, half asks for patience.
Partnerships hold. What you carry yourself gets finished, and finished on time.
What to guard against in the same run: comfort becomes inertia. The easy chair is the expensive one this run.
What to do with it: take the steady option. Nothing here forbids progress; nothing here accelerates it either.
12XII. The next ten years
Single years are weather inside a decade, not verdicts on it. Names in [brackets] are this system's own shorthand, not a score.
2026 (Bing-Wu) — the Mentor above, the Horse below, both ends lean your way. A good run to deepen rather than to chase — study, property, the long quiet build. [opens up]
2027 (Ding-Wei) — the Hermit above, the Goat below, both ends lean your way. The less-travelled road pays: research, craft, the thing few others can do at all. [opens up]
2028 (Wu-Shen) — the Rival above, the Monkey below, the upper half helps and the lower half charges for it. The bold move pays. Doors open because someone you know opens them. Restlessness reads as unreliability. Finish one thing before starting the next. [mixed]
2029 (Ji-You) — the Equal above, the Rooster below, the upper half helps and the lower half charges for it. Partnerships hold. What you carry yourself gets finished, and finished on time. Pleasure is not progress. Pick the thing that will still matter in three years. [mixed]
2030 (Geng-Xu) — the Iconoclast above, the Dog below, the upper half charges and the lower half holds you up. The bold move pays. Doors open because someone you know opens them. Restlessness reads as unreliability. Finish one thing before starting the next. [mixed]
2031 (Xin-Hai) — the Epicurean above, the Pig below, both ends lean against you. Comfort becomes inertia. The easy chair is the expensive one this run. [needs care]
2032 (Ren-Zi) — the Steward above, the Rat below, both ends lean against you. Do not mistake more effort for more pay. Price the work properly. [needs care]
2033 (Gui-Chou) — the Venture above, the Ox below, the upper half charges and the lower half holds you up. You can stand on your own two feet this run, and the people at your own height will put a shoulder to it. Fast money has a fast tail. Take the profit, not the position. [mixed]
2034 (Jia-Yin) — the Magistrate above, the Tiger below, neither half pushes hard either way. The rules are quiet. Use the time to put your paperwork in order. [mixed]
2035 (Yi-Mao) — the Adversary above, the Rabbit below, neither half pushes hard either way. Pressure is low, which is restful — and easy to mistake for safety. [mixed]
13XIII. When things come due
Your branches are the Horse, the Rabbit, the Rabbit, the Rabbit. "Timing" in this system does not mean a date is written down somewhere. It means: these are the years when the conditions for a thing line up, so the thing lands with less pushing.
· The missing key. Your chart holds a Fire combination with two parts absent: the Tiger and the Dog. A year of the Tiger and the Dog completes the set. That element is one you need, so completion helps: the thing you have been assembling gets to work.
· The missing key. Your chart holds a Wood combination with two parts absent: the Pig and the Goat. A year of the Pig and the Goat completes the set. It is neutral, so expect movement rather than outcome.
· The moving years (the Horse / the Rat, the Rabbit / the Rooster). Strikes move furniture — work, address, the polarity of a relationship. Plan around them rather than against them.
· The arguing years (the Rabbit / the Rat). Punishments are self-inflicted friction: the same dispute returning until someone concedes. Small concessions early are the whole technique.
The years when the conditions actually line up (2026–2045). Ordinary years are not listed; these are the ones worth planning around://n 2027 (Ding-Wei) — the missing key
2030 (Geng-Xu) — the missing key
2031 (Xin-Hai) — the missing key
2032 (Ren-Zi) — a punishment
2034 (Jia-Yin) — the missing key
2039 (Ji-Wei) — the missing key
2042 (Ren-Xu) — the missing key
2043 (Gui-Hai) — the missing key
2044 (Jia-Zi) — a punishment
14XIV. What to do with it
Face the South and the centre and Southwest when you have the choice — desk, bed-head, the seat in a meeting. Colours: red, yellow and brown. Numbers that recur for this chart: 2 and 7, 5 and 10.
Treat this as tilt, not magic. Standing in the right direction will not rescue a bad decision — but it costs nothing, and over ten years small tilts compound.
Five things that follow from the reading, in order of how much they matter:
1. Keep one Fire person close — someone whose presence makes you stop straining. Not a mentor in the abstract; an actual name.
2. Do the Fire kind of work deliberately, even when the work in front of you is not that kind. Power and utilities, hospitality, media, anything performed.
3. Build in company. This chart does not thrive alone, and the reason is structural, not emotional.
4. Protect sleep as if it were income, because in this chart it is.
5. When a hard run arrives, shrink the plan rather than the effort.
15XV. In one breath
Earth, born into spring, short of Fire. That is the whole chart in one line, and everything else is a consequence of it. Of the eight decades in front of you, three lean your way and three lean against, with the rest mixed. That ratio is not a grade — it is a schedule. Push in the first kind, hold in the second, and treat the mixed ones as the years you get your real work done because nobody is watching. Support is your strategy: mentors, partners, patience. Build slowly, keep the nights early, and let the right seasons do part of the work.
16XVI. A short glossary of the reading
The characters in this report are not gods and not planets. Each one is a role, and every role can be described in ordinary English:
· the Equal — the part of you that stands on its own two feet, and the peers who stand beside you
· the Rival — the same force with an edge on it — competition, nerve, and the friend who wants your share
· the Epicurean — what you make for the pleasure of making it; taste, ease, craft, appetite
· the Iconoclast — the part that refuses the given answer and invents a better one, at some cost to decorum
· the Steward — money earned by showing up — salary, steady trade, the household budget
· the Venture — money that arrives by timing and nerve — opportunity, side ventures, windfalls
· the Magistrate — structure: position, title, obligation, the rules that also protect you
· the Adversary — pressure with a face on it — rivals, hard deadlines, the thing that forces you to grow
· the Mentor — the mentor, the qualification, the institution that vouches for you
· the Hermit — the private mind — insight, research, the room you think in alone
A note on what this is
This reading is built on classical Chinese natal-chart and traditional-medicine reasoning. It is cultural study and self-reflection, not medical, financial, legal or marital advice. The "years that ask for care" in the health section describe seasons that need more looking-after, not diagnoses — see a doctor when something is wrong. What can change in a life is always larger than what is fixed: the reading points, you walk.
